This is a test site for the Buhler Gallery located in St. Boniface General Hospital. This is purely for a class exercise at Red River College. Do not take any part of this website as the actual gallery website. The show depicted here is a past exhibit. All actual contact links are not active and will not go to the actual gallery.

This exhibit is titled Colour & Light featuring local artists Roger LaFreniere and Brigitte Dion.

When visiting the gallery, please understand that you cannot touch the artwork and sculptures, eat in the gallery or take photos of any kind without permission from the Art Gallery management.

Opening Night

February 7 to April 28, 2008
This exhibit runs through out the late winter to spring of 2008. Opening night had catered to over 200 guests and dignitaries. Present were John and Bonnie Buhler, local artist Madeline Vrignon and the Honourable Lt. Governor of Manitoba, John Harvard, P.C., O.M.

George Shannon's permanent glass piece called the "Awakening" was presented to the gallery on opening night. A long awaited piece of glass sculpture towers over 6 feet tall and lit up with light from below the glass work.

St. Boniface General Hospital's CEO, Dr. Michel Tetrault thanked all who made it possible. Mentioned in Dr. Tetrault's speech, the gallery is a place for healing the spiritual body. It is a place to reflect and to get away from the rush from the hospital environment and the outside world.

Stuart Murray

Stuart Murray, Research and Hospital Foundation CEO announces the principal sponsor for the Buhler Art Gallery. The Johnston Group's sponsorship allowed the exhibition to be properly managed from advertising and to the presentation of the art pieces.

Murray also thanked all staff, volunteers and physicians of St. Boniface General Hospital whom also contributed their time and effort to the success of the Buhler Gallery.

Oasis
The Buhler Gallery's next show will feature artwork from the employees from St. Boniface General Hospital. Each piece will be chosen from a juroured panel. The judges will have background in art galleries from either provincial or national level. Entries must be a current employee of St. Boniface General Hospital it is open to staff, physicians and volunteers. The chosen entries will be displayed for four months.

Leo Mol Statue
You can still see the sculpture from Leo Mol depicting Moses. The sculpture stands 24 inches tall and cast in bronze. There is a full size version at the Leo Mol garden located in Assiniboine Park.
