This is not a romance story. Nor is this a fantasy. It is very well real and I would like you to know that before I begin my tale. It is a story of tragedy. So if your expecting a happy ending I suggest you not listen to me and walk out of this abbey right now. If you stay, stay and listen, do not interrupt me. This is a tale of my life, and others and how we all came together… and how we all died together.

The wind swept leaves across the ground as a young woman ran through the forest into a small clearing. The man behind her ran after her but kept his distance as if playing with her. She turned her head behind her to see him but found no one there. Stopping she turned fully around to find that the man was nowhere in sight. She paused a moment looking around to see where he had gone but there was no sign of anyone or anything. All of a sudden she shrieked in surprise as two strong arms wrapped around her waste and tossed her to the ground the man landing gently on top of her. The woman giggled up at the man above her and ran her hand along his cheek. He smiled down at her.
“God I love you Aurora.” Aurora smiled up at him and kissed his nose lightly.
“I love you to Lazarus.” She smiled. “You know that.” Lazarus smiled down at her and kissed her playfully on the lips. Lazarus moved over to the ground and lay on his side his head propped up with his hand. He gently kissed her shoulder and ran his fingers gently down her arm. He leaned forward and kissed her ear before whispering to her.
“Would you marry me?” He asked. She looked over her shoulder at him and smiled happily though he could tell there was sadness behind it.
“Of course I would. I’d do anything for you. But you know we can’t.” She turned to him. “Your father won’t abide to you marrying a human. Remember?” She sighed sadly and looked down at the ground playing with a blade of grass. “Plus I’m just a commoner. You have to marry someone of royal birth.”
“Me and my father came to an impasse. He knows he won’t live much longer, he’s very sick. As long as I marry a demon he’s fine with it. She doesn’t have to be of royal blood.” Aurora smiled.
“Your forgetting one thing…” She said looking him in the eyes. “I’m not a demon like you Lazarus. I’m just a normal every day human.” Lazarus smiled sadly.
“I know…” He sighed and lay down on his back beside her, his hands behind his head. “I just wish there was a way for us to be together.” He said closing his eyes. Aurora smiled sadly and ran her finger along his jaw.
“I do to but….” She was quickly silenced as Lazarus put his finger up to her lips and quickly sat up looking around the small clearing and listening intently. “What’s wrong?” She whispered as he took his finger away.
“Be wary. We’re not alone.” He stood up the action quickly followed by Aurora. She put her hand on his arm.
“One of your fathers guards?” She asked. He shook his head.
“Not likely.” He gently removed her fingers from his arm and began walking to the edge of the clearing. He gently pulled his sword from its sheath and held it readily at his side.
“Be careful.” She said to him. He held his hand up to silence her. He slowly walked into the copse of trees to be hidden from her view. She slowly began to walk towards where he had disappeared not hearing anything for many moments. “Lazarus?” She gasped in shock as she heard the sounds of a struggle from in the forest before she ran in after him. She found him not far from the clearing holding a man by the neck against a tree, the blade of his sword tip lying against the man chest.
“What are you doing here?” He asked. “This is private property. Your not supposed to be here.” The man gasped and gagged for air. Lazarus let go of his grip but turned the blade to the man’s neck.
“I’m sorry my lord.” He apologized. He would have bowed slightly though the blade prevented him from doing so. “But I couldn’t help but over hear your predicament.” Lazarus pushed his sword a little harder against the man’s skin though the man still didn’t show any fear towards it.
“Your changing the subject. Why are you here?” The man laughed.
“I said I heard your predicament. I never said I was here when I heard it.” He laughed. “I can feel your want… Your love.” He smiled and looked over at Aurora. “She loves you just as much but you can’t be together now can you?” Lazarus looked confused.
“How do you know all this?” He asked still a bit angry.
“How I know and what I know do not matter.” He said. “What matters is that I can give you what you want.” He said. “For a price.”
“What is this price?” Lazarus asked. “Let me guess. One of us must die.” The man laughed and shook his head, his dirty blond hair falling over his face.
“No, not you my lord.” He said. “Or her.” He moved forward towards Lazarus as the sword fazed through his body having no effect on him. Lazarus looked down at his sword before pulling it back and putting it back in the sheath.
“What is it you want?” He asked as Aurora came up to them putting her arm around Lazarus’.
“Your father… I expect he won’t live much longer will he?” The man laughed. “I want you to kill him. If you do, it’s a win win situation. I will turn your beloved here into a demon so that you can marry her, and you will be king.” Lazarus looked confused.
“I won’t be king. My brother will.” The man laughed and shook his head.
“Methalius won’t become king. Not if you execute my plan exactly.” He said putting a hand on Lazarus’ shoulder. “You see…. Here’s my plan….”
