Audio books are good for a number of reasons. They're great when one is sick because watching TV might be too hard on the head while reading books, newspapers, magazines, etc might require too much effort to concentrate when you're sick. Audio books don't cause headaches by their bright lights like TV. Volume of sound can be controlled easier than the visuals on a video screen. Plus audio books don't require the kind of effort that reading publications require. You could be lying down in a bed, sick and listening to a likable and/or thrilling audio book and not getting any headaches (other than the ones you already have) plus makes the sick in bed hours more bearable.

Another usage for audio books is as background noise (for lack of a better word) when doing house work. Audio books don't waste as much electricity plus whether watching a movie on a video screen or something on TV there's still a chance that one could get distracted because of something they see on the screen. Even if they've seen it many times before. And if one is cooking and is being distracted by what's on the screen, it could prove to be hazardous. With an audio book at least the chances of not being distracted while doing house work like cooking are smaller. Not to say one couldn't get distracted from what their listening too but the chances are better that one wouldn't get distracted, at least not as much.

This site will be about the audio books I recall listening too. Few that I have heard both abridged and unabridged. I’ll only talk about a few of them. I'll talk about the performers. There hasn’t been a reader of an audio book I’ve disliked but there have been some who had stronger performances than others as I will talk about. No one has ever been lousy but some were clearly better than others.

Some audio books I’ve only heard once and have no need to hear them again. Others I’ve heard more than once.
